Joseph Chu, CFA

Senior Consultant

Mr. Chu has over 20 years of experience with investment grade and leveraged finance transactions for a variety of infrastructure assets.  He has specific expertise in public power, utilities, renewable and thermal power generation, investor owned utilities, airports, toll roads, and telecommunications sectors. 

Mr. Chu has advised clients in the U.S. as well as internationally in Australia, Latin America and the U.K.  His transaction highlights include a debt financing with OPIC of T-Solar’s 44MW Majes/Repartition photovoltaic power plant in Peru which received the prestigious Latin American Renewables Deal of the Year award in 2012 by Project Finance Magazine.

Prior to joining SPI Partners. Mr. Chu held senior analytic and business development positions at Assured Guaranty, Barclays Capital, and XL Capital Assurance.  In these roles he was responsible for all phases of debt transaction advisory and management: origination, credit analysis, due diligence, structuring, documentation, capital raising and closing.

Mr. Chu received his A.B. from Columbia College and an M.B.A. in Finance with honors (Beta Gamma Sigma society) from Columbia Business School.  He is a CFA charterholder.
